The races between the lanes of a boisterous city, market rumors, an ice cream in the square and a dip in the salt water of the Tyrrhenian Sea, under the sun that beats down so only in Campania. A trip from dreams along the beautiful Gulf of Salerno, the amazing Amalfi Coast, with sunny beaches, secret coves and citrus gardens, plenty of beauties to discover along the Panoramic State Roand 163 (Blue Ribbon), a stretch of about 50 km long winding coast, from Vietri to Positano passing through Cetara and others unknown stunning villages that usually the tourist skip.

This the road-trip dream we will take you today.

First stop on our tour of the Amalfi Coast, starting from Salerno (from Naples we invert the order of the sites), is Vietri sul Mare. The water is crystal blue waters of the gulf, with coves and dream beaches, sunny and beloved by tourists. Worth a visit that of “Two Brothers”, the spikes of rock symbol of the city. Visit the workshops with the masters of Vietri hand-painted ceramic, ready to tempt you with their extraordinary creations and fall in love to this lovely little gem overlooking the Tyrrhenian.

Second stop in Cetara,  here a must is …anchovy! This small town on the Amalfi coast is known all over the world, not only for crystal clear waters, tuna of unique flavor, but also the famous “anchovies”, are much appreciated everywhere and make this small village a few kilometers from Salerno, one of the perfect places for a lunch break by the sea. The fishing boats, historical traps, the breeze from the sea, the relaxed life of a village of about 2,400 souls bathed in sunshine, make Cetara a paradise to be reluctant to leave.

Afetr Cetare we reach our third stop, Minori. A renowned destination and appreciated by VIPs and celebrities homegrown.. The Roman Maritime Villa and the Basilica of S. Trofimena are the two main attractions here, after the beauty of the landscape and the coastline. The first was built around the first century A.D. and still has many original frescoes and mosaics of which appreciate shapes and colors. The second has a tripartite facade facing the sea and houses the remains of the saint whose name it bears. A short stop for a plate of pasta, made by one of the renowned local pasta, and again … the journey continues!

We continue our journey on the road. Within less than 1 km from the center of Amalfi, we reach one of the most beautiful villages in Italy: Atrani, our fourth stop.  Perched on the rock and overhanging the sea, nestled between the mountains Aureo and Civita, this small group of houses will charm you with all its warmth. To visit: the Collegiate Church of Santa Maria Maddalena, the Cave of Masianello built on 500 steps and the Cave of the Saints, with beautiful Byzantine-style frescoes.

Time permitting we will drive to Conca dei Marini, that offers one of the biggest attractions of the Coast: the Emerald Cave. You can reach it by a staircase or by elevator. It is a cave where the water inside take the color of the emerald, and stalactites and stalagmites join to form tall columns sometimes even more than 10 meters. Than Furore, the only fjord which can be enjoyed in Italy. In an area where the sea meets the mountains, it forms a small bay that welcomes the fishermen to return from their daily fishing trip and offers magical moments to tourists, often by chance, stumble into these magnificent places,. By a suspension bridge 30 meters above the water is held every year one of the stages of “MarMeeting”, the world championship of dips from great heights.
