Description

Our day tour will be today focused on the bay of Naples. 3 sites will be visited, starting from Pompei, than the ascent to the volcano and finally walking aroung the beautiful Naples

First stop on our tour is Pompei. The site is the result of Mount Vesuvius famous eruption in Roman times (AD 79) that buried Pompei. You could spend an entire day at the Pompeii site its that vast, but for the average visitor and tour about a 2-3 hour stay is the average. Guide and audioguide are available at the entrance.

Second stop is Mount Vesuvius. Mount Vesuvius is one of the world’s most dangerous volcanoes. The volcano has an eruption cycle of about 20 years, but the last eruption was in 1944.It not at all unsafe to visit Mount Vesuvius but before you go you should be prepared. We will drop you off at an altitude of around 1000m (3000fts); there you have several options:1) the full path winds for a total distance of 3807m to a maximum altitude of 1170m above sea level. The entire excursion, there and back, takes 3 hours;

2) medium length path ascends 140m with an average gradient of 14% and can be walked in approximately 2 hours, there and back;

3) short length path takes an hour and usually suggest it to our customers.

Access to a volcanology guide is part of the ticket.

Our third stop is the town of Naples. During our tour we visit:  Maschio Angioino Castle, from where we can walk to Piazza Plebiscito with the Palazzo Reale (King’s Palace),  the famous Caffè Gambrinus, and the beautiful Galleria Umberto I (about 15 min to walk). Walk up from Piazza Plebiscito towards the long shopping street, Via Toledo, (pedestrian area) with lots of boutiques and shoe stores, we reach Piazza Dante, from where we really enter into the heart of Naples, visiting “Spaccanapoli” and the egyptian disctrict, rich of amazing churches and interesting momuments. If you would like to see more exclusive boutiques, you might want to go to the pretty Via Chiaia, which starts at the Caffè Gambrinus. If you instead prefer to stroll towards the sea, from Piazza Plebiscito we get down to Castell dell’Ovo (about 20 min from the harbour). There, at the small marina, you can find very good restaurants and caffès from where you have a great view on the Vesuvius.

Than we drive back to the pier or any other site you wish to be accompanied.
